A warm, honest space to figure out what's been missing.
Telehealth Therapy for Adults in New Jersey & New York
The truth is…
Healing begins with you
Meet Your Therapist
Jacqueline Canovan
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who supports adults navigating the complexities of anxiety, depression, trauma, and everyday stress. I also work closely with individuals in recovery from substance use and those who grew up in families impacted by mental health or addiction.
It's not the therapy you're picturing.
No blank stares, no analyzing you from across the room. Yes, I'll jot some notes — and I'll tell you when I am — but I'm right here in it with you, present and engaged. This is a conversation: a warm, open space where we talk like two humans. I bring warmth, a little humor, and a gentle nudge when something's worth a second look. You'll leave with things you can actually use, not just feelings you stirred up and have to carry home.
Therapy for Adults Who Grew Up Walking on Eggshells
If you grew up in a home that felt unpredictable or unsafe — where you learned to read the room before you learned to read words, where love came with conditions, or where you became the "easy one" so no one else had to worry — you're not alone, and you're not broken.
Many of the adults I work with grew up in families shaped by addiction, mental illness, emotional volatility, or quiet neglect. As adults, they often struggle with anxiety, depression, mood swings, people-pleasing, over-functioning, or that constant feeling of bracing for something to go wrong — even when life looks "fine" on the outside.
Therapy can help you untangle what was theirs from what is yours, build a steadier sense of self, and finally exhale.
Does any of this sound familiar?
A lot of the people I work with can't quite name what's wrong. Life looks fine on paper. But something feels off, or missing, and they'd like to finally put their finger on it.
You might see yourself here if:
You grew up in a home where you never quite knew which version of someone you'd get — so you got good at reading the room and staying small.
Mental illness, addiction, or just hard feelings weren't talked about. You learned that keeping the peace was safer than having needs.
You're the one who over-functions, smooths things over, says "I'm fine" on autopilot.
You struggle to set boundaries or say what you need — then feel resentful or walked over when no one notices.
You people-please until you're drained, and you're tired of it.
You want to understand the pattern, not just push through it.
You don't need to have it all figured out to start. That's what we'll do together.
